Our Services

At Planting Pears, we offer comprehensive psychological assessments as well as child-centred therapeutic interventions for families.

We recognise that seeking an assessment or therapy for your child can be a challenging and emotional journey. That's why we strive to provide a compassionate, knowledgeable, and skilled approach to every family we work with.

Our focus is on identifying and utilising each child's strengths to help them overcome any obstacles they may be facing. We work closely with children and their families to ensure that they feel supported and empowered throughout the assessment and therapy process. Our goal is to help children reach their full potential and achieve success in all areas of their lives.

Child Counselling and Therapy

Does your child have trouble dealing with their emotions? Is their behavior sometimes disruptive to your home life? Have they experienced sudden loss or trauma? As they grow, children and adolescents develop social skills and emotional intelligence. This awareness helps them to develop into healthy, happy, and successful individuals. But some children have trouble processing their emotions and this often leads to behavior that negatively impacts their school life, home life and overall well-being. Therapy offers children a safe space to work through their thoughts and emotions. With the help of a specialized therapist, children can resolve problems, modify behaviors, and make positive and lasting changes.

AutPlay® Therapy

AutPlay® Therapy is an integrative family play therapy approach designed to support the mental health needs of neurodivergent children (ages 3 -18). Typically, individuals who identify as neurodiverse may have one or more of the following diagnosis: autism (ASD), attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD), learning difficulties (dyslexia, dyspraxia, dysgraphia), sensory processing issues.

Play Therapy

Play therapy makes a difference. Play is an enjoyable, fun activity that elevates our spirits and brightens our outlook on life. Play relieves feelings of stress and boredom and, most importantly, helps us express ourselves. Play therapy refers to a large number of treatment methods, all applying the therapeutic benefits of play. Play therapy helps children to address and resolve their own problems and builds on the natural way that children learn about themselves and their relationships in the world around them.

Parent-infant Psychotherapy

The relationship between parents and infants is an immensely complicated one that includes love and conflict, often simultaneously. Raising an infant is a significant responsibility that can trigger a range of difficulties, insecurities, or painful memories from a parent's past. These challenges can have an impact on the parent-infant relationship, affecting the way in which they relate to each other.

Educational Psychology Assessment

Educational psychology is the study of how people learn and develop intellectually, often focusing on subgroups such as gifted children and those with specific difficulties. An educational psychology assessment is helpful when there are concerns regarding a child’s learning or academic performance.

General Psychology Assessment

A general psychology assessment can help identify any difficulties a child or young person is having and provide the basis for care and support. This clinical assessment evaluates various aspects of a child's development, including their cognitive skills, emotional regulation, social functioning, and behaviour.

Parenting Coaching

Nothing really prepares you to become a parent. Some of us were lucky enough to have parents that set a good example. But others grew up in homes where the dynamic between child and parent was anything but functional or consistently loving. But the truth is, even if you did have loving parents that did right by you 24/7, you can never be fully prepared to handle sticky situations with your own children. You never really know what behavioral challenges your child may wind up struggling with, and how those will affect your other children and the family as a whole.
